OG Dakota Dozier   Age: 26

With Brian Winters and James Carpenter locked in on the offensive line, offensive guard is one of the few positions on the Jets that, at least for the short-term, is solid.

This could mean that the team could move on from veteran backup Dakota Dozier. While Dozier started two games for the Jets in 2016, the problem is that New York could look at younger prospects for future offensive linemen. With Brandon Shell finishing last season strong and Ben Ijalana re-signed this offseason, whoever doesn’t win the starting right tackle position between the two would be the first backup on the offensive line.

With younger prospects like Craig Watts and Ben Braden, who the team could view as future starters down the road, the Jets may feel they are better long-term options. If the team isn’t satisfied with Dozier’s improvement or feel he’s peaked, the 2017 preseason could be Dozier’s last with New York.
