OLB Bruce Carter   Age: 29

Over the past few seasons, the New York Jets have made a concentrated effort to get younger in their linebacker group. After releasing long-time veteran David Harris, it might not come as a surprise if the team releases another veteran before the season.

Over the past three years, the team has invested draft capital in young outside linebackers Lorenzo Mauldin, Jordan Jenkins, and most recently Dylan Donahue. With these young players bidding for playing time, and once again the emphasis being to get these young players experience, another veteran on the chopping block could be Bruce Carter.

Carter was nothing more than a role player last season and had only 16 tackles and zero sacks. With other emerging talents at the position who are also younger than the 29-year-old veteran, Carter will have to emerge as a leader in the group to earn a spot on the final 53-man roster.
