Right Field: Yoenis Cespedes

After signing a four-year contract with the Mets during the offseason, 2017 was not the start the Mets were hoping for from their All-Star outfielder. Injuries early in the season hurt Cespedes’ production and it’s been clear watching this season that at times, Cespedes is being careful not to aggravate those injuries.

After another leg injury suffered against the Nationals, the Mets have shut Cespedes down for the season and will have him rehab for next season.

To help save Cespedes’ legs and utilize his cannon of an arm, the Mets should move Cespedes to right field next season. While he may not be able to play 150 games, the team needs to get around 140 from Cespedes. If he stays healthy, 30 home runs isn’t out of the question.

The impact of Cespedes in the lineup is noticeable and a move to right field will help reduce the strain on his legs that has plagued him throughout the 2017 season.
