“Casey”
I didn’t know his real name until I researched for this article. Charles Stengel is basically considered the G.O.A.T. baseball manager, so I couldn’t leave him off, plus he managed both the Yanks and Mets (seven-time World Series-winning manager – all with the Yankees). He might also have the best origin of a nickname.
ORIGIN: Players called him K.C. in reference to his hometown of Kansas City. Then it evolved to Casey. Go figure.
