New York Giants 2017 Roster Preview: Safeties
By Sean Dyer
Andrew Adams
When Darian Thompson was lost for the season, undrafted rookie Andrew Adams stepped up.
Adams started 13 games for Big Blue, recording 46 total tackles, five pass breakups, and an interception.
Adams was a pleasant surprise for Giants fans and he was named New York’s secret superstar by Pro Football Focus.
Although most people are handing Darian Thompson the starting free safety role, Andrew Adams performed well enough last year to get another look.
Even if Thompson gets named the starter, Adams will have to be ready in case of an injury.
The Giants could deploy three-safety looks in which Adams will get plenty of snaps.
Whatever his role, Andrew Adams will provide New York with key depth at the safety position and he should continue to grow as he gets more NFL reps.
