The annual Mets vs Yankees cross town rivalry continued with a four game home-home series beginning on Monday and concluding Thursday. One of the best times of the Year for New York sports fans is now complete.

Here is our recap of what you might have missed.

The Subway series began Monday in an electric Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

Game One became quite the slug-fest which set the tone for what the series would become.

After Curtis Gradnerson wrapped a homer around the short porch right field pole he knows so

well at Yankee Stadium, Yoenis Cespedes followed it up with a dinger of his own.

The Mets led 2-0 quick and early.

The Bronx Bombers, however, had an answer with some homers of their own. Aaron JudgeGary Sanchez, and Aaron Hicks all hit one out too.

The Mets fell to the Yanks by the score of 4-2.

For Mets fans it is important to note that Rafael Montero looked possibly the best he did all year-long. He threw his best stuff, and was able to keep the Yankees contained for most of the game.

He did not even earn the loss.

He came out hot early  and looked as if he was going to go into “The House That Jeter Built” and steal one.

However, the Yanks late rally and Mets stagnant offense for the last 6 innings put the Yanks ahead for good.

Game 2 of the series was the most anticipated. Mets ace Jacob deGrom and newly acquired Yankees pitcher Sonny Gray were set to battle.

In a boisterous Yankee stadium, Gray proved his value as he had just enough stuff to out duel deGrom.

With more balls flying off the bat, another Gary Sanchez homer helped the Yanks build a 3-0 lead over their cross town rival. The lead would eventually hit four.

The Mets would fail to come back, but not without effort. Dominic Smith hit is his first career homrun as he snuck a Sonny Gray pitch just over the outfield wall.

Amed Rosario would start the comeback effort in the 9th as he blasted his second career dinger to bring the game within one in the ninth.

All effort fell short as the Yanks held on for a 5-4 win.

But, Aroldis Chapman still had Yankee fans distraught as he gave up a home run, worked slowly, and seemed to have injured him self on the last out.

What a scare.

Smith and Rosario homered in the same game, which has to be encouraging for the Amazin’ Army despite the loss.

After a clean home sweep for the Yanks, the series shifted to Flushing Meadows for two in Citi Field on Wednesday.

Feeling the need for a victory the Met die-hards were rowdy and hostile.

Some good old fashion baseball and another internet breaking Aaron Judge home-run is really all you need to know about game three.

After a bunch of sacrifice runs and plays. Aaron Judge hit a monster home-run that might still not have landed.

Rene Rivera hit a solo shot of his own as after six innings the cross-town rivals were tied at three.

The final nail in the coffin for the Blue and Orange was a two run double by Didi Gregorius in the 7th off Paul Sewald.

The runs crossed and you could audibly hear “Let’s go Yankees” chants throughout the Citi Field crowd.

Sewald fell to 0-5 on the season as the Yanks held on to take a moral killing three straight games from the “little brother”. Embarrassing.

Thursday night wrapped up the 2017 Subway Series, and final meeting between the two teams until next year.

The Mets, looking for to avoid a shameful four game sweep, they did not play like it in the beginning.

Steven Matz was horrific again, as  the Yankees looked like they were hitting beach balls out there.

Another Gary Sanchez home run and a 9 hits pulled the Yankees out front by seven by the end of the fourth.

The Mets, to their credit, would not die there.

After a Conforto strikeout with the bases loaded earlier in the game, Granderson came up with the bases loaded in the 9th.

With the Mets down 7-1, “Grandy” hit a grand-slam (no pun intended) and the Mets found themselves trailing only 7-5.

The comeback ended there as Dellin Betances completed the save. The Yankees completed the sweep, and the Mets sucked all the hope right away from their fans.
