New York Giants 2017 Roster Preview: Defensive Linemen
By Sean Dyer
Bobby Richardson and Josh Banks
Bobby Richardson started 11 games for the New Orleans Saints in 2015 but strangely hasn’t been able to make a roster since.
The Giants just signed Richardson yesterday after placing fellow DT Corbin Bryant on IR.
Richardson recorded 40 total tackles and 0.5 sacks with the Saints in 2015 but is still a longshot to make Big Blue’s roster this year. As mentioned, the Giants have a solid foursome of DTs, so it will be difficult for Richardson to crack into the rotation.
Josh Banks is an undersized defensive tackle who went undrafted out of Wake Forest.
Banks is listed at 6’3″ 278 lb., which is the same size as most of Big Blue’s defensive ends. Undersized to play in the middle of the defense, Banks is a longshot to make the roster.
Banks can rush the passer, recording 19.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks in his college career, so perhaps a spot on the Giants practice squad is in his future.
