Damon “Snacks” Harrison and Jay Bromley

Damon Harrison came over from the crosstown Jets on a five-year, $46.25 million deal last offseason and became the most consistent player on the Giants defense.

Harrison had a good four-year career with Gang Green but set career-highs in solo tackles (55), total tackles (86), and sacks (2.5) in his first year with Big Blue.

“Snacks” is the best run stuffing defensive tackle in the league, using his size (6’4″ 350 lb.) to gobble up opposing running backs.

Harrison’s 2016 play allowed the Giants to hold firm on their free agent offer to Johnathan Hankins, who eventually left for the Indianapolis Colts.

Filling in for Hankins in New York’s starting lineup is Jay Bromley.

Bromley was a third round pick for the Giants in 2014 but has started just four games in his first three seasons. He had 36 total tackles in 2015 (the year of all four of his starts) but recorded just 14 total tackles in 2016.

The Giants had high hopes for Bromley when they used their third round pick on him but so far in his career, he’s been unimpressive.

Bromley seems to be excited for an opportunity to start and word out of Giants camp is that he’s made good strides this offseason.

The defensive tackle lining up next to Damon Harrison just needs to handle the scraps that “Snacks” leaves behind. This is why the Giants didn’t feel obligated to give Johnathan Hankins big money to be their second DT.

If Bromley holds onto the starting job, he just needs to blend into the talent that surrounds him on Big Blue’s defensive line.
