Live Nine-Inning Analysis of the third game of the Subway Series
5th Inning
Ronald Torreyes kicked things off swinging at the first pitch, and hitting a lazy fly out to Cespedes in left field.
Jaime Garcia stepped in and got a few hacks on the rock. He would end up striking out swiniging on a change-up at the knees for the second out of the inning.
That would bring up the top of the order with Ellsbury.
He would pop out to Rosario behind third base.
The Yankees go down quietly in the top of the fifth inning.
Rosario steps in to face a rather sharp Jaime Garcia in the bottom of the inning. His plate discipline continues to be a question as after working a 2-0 count, he would bring it back 2-2. He would then prove me wrong and walk.
The next batter would be Dominic Smith, and he would hit a quintessential double-play ball to Gregorious at short.
With two down, in steps Rivera. He quickly gets the count to 0-2, but would pop a hanging breaking ball to left field for a homerun.
Mets tie things up 2-2.
To make matters worse for Garcia, Gsellman would hit a single to get on base for the second time in the evening.
Garcia would get Lagares to ground out to third to end the inning, but not before the game gets knotted up.
We are tied 2-2 at the end of five.
