New York Giants 2017 Roster Preview: Running Backs
By Sean Dyer
Shane Vereen
Shane Vereen has made a living catching passes out of the backfield and will likely do the same in 2017.
After a solid four-year career with the New England Patriots, capped off with an 11-catch performance in the Super Bowl, Vereen signed with the New York Giants.
Vereen played in all 16 games for the Gmen in 2015 but was placed on injured reserve with a triceps injury in 2016 after playing just five games.
Looking for a bounce back year, Vereen should be the Giants primary third down back.
Vereen has great hands and excels in pass protection. With sophomore Paul Perkins and rookie Wayne Gallman competing with Vereen for snaps, the veteran should see plenty of action on passing downs.
Health has never been Vereen’s strong suit, however, so staying off the weekly injury reports will be key to how successful of a 2017 season Shane Vereen has.
