Carmelo Anthony: No Desire to Waive No-Trade Clause to Play in OKC
There was a rumor earlier in the week that Carmelo Anthony could be interested in going to Oklahoma City. Considering the source and Melo’s continued desire to play for the Houston Rockets, a trade to the Thunder seems out of the question.
For the past couple months, Carmelo Anthony has been rumored to be traded to either the Houston Rockets or the Cleveland Cavaliers.

however, the Cavaliers are back in trade talks with the Knicks.
Both destinations have much more to offer Anthony than New York at the moment.
In both teams, Anthony has some of his closest friends with LeBron James in Cleveland and Chris Paul in Houston.
Not only will he have familiar faces to play with, he will be on the winning side of the court much more than his current situation.
According to Bill Simmons of the ringer, Anthony and the Oklahoma City Thunder have also been in contact.
Simmons is basing this off of Anthony’s long time mentor, Troy Weaver. Weaver has been the assistant GM in OKC since 2010.
Anthony and Weaver go way back to their Syracuse days. Weaver played a major role in recruiting the star out of Oak Hill Academy.
The only issue with this story is that it might not be true! Simmons has always been known for his poor credibility. He’s also not an NBA insider.
Simmons has nothing to back up this information with. There has not been one credible source that has come forward with a quote from Anthony or his representatives to back this up.
This is classic Simmons. He was unable to keep his position with ESPN after 14 years due to the content he spewed out. History tends to repeat itself.

Simmons has no proof of even speaking with Anthony.
Bottom line, Simmons is fake news.
Melo still has his eyes set on Houston and hopes the Knicks will get a deal done soon.
