Final Thoughts

I like this trade for the Yankees. I really do.

Brian Cashman did a nice job of adding pieces to win now without sacrificing too much of the future.

Top prospects Gleyber Torres and Clint Frazier are still apart of the organization. Top pitching prospects James Kaprielian, Justus Sheffield, and Chance Adams are also still around.

Arguably my favorite part of the deal: Tyler Clippard is gone!

Clippard’s continued struggles made it necessary for the Yankees to move on.

More from New York Yankees

I was looking forward to watching Blake Rutherford in pinstripes. However, I said in Rutherford’s Trade Deadline Profile that I was prepared to lose him at the deadline due to the Yankees’ surplus of outfielders.

Ian Clarkin is a nice pitching prospect, but New York has plenty of pitchers ahead of him in their system. Clarkin seemed to be putting things together this season, but he was only at High-A at the age of 22.

Tito Polo is also one of my favorite Yankees prospects, however, I talked about parting ways with him for similar reasons as Rutherford in Polo’s Trade Deadline Profile.

Focusing more on what the Yankees received than on what they gave up, this is a nice deal.

With Robertson and Kahnle now in the fold, New York’s bullpen is deep and one of the better relief corps in the league. Cashman turned a weakness into a major strength.

Todd Frazier also gives the Yankees another power bat and could fix two positions, both first and third base.
