New York Mets: Players to Watch in the Second Half
Silly Season
When the MLB allows teams to expand their rosters in September heading into the playoffs, the Mets should make some moves.
Guys like Tyler Pill may be given the ball again to make some starts and get used to the big league way of life.
They should give more players a chance in the bullpen too. Call up some younger players from Vegas and see what they can do.
On the offensive side of things, the Mets have players like Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith. Both players could get called up to at least get some regular season reps.
There is no telling what General Manager Sandy Alderson will do. There is no way of knowing how Manager Terry Collins will shift his players around. But expect the Mets to make some bold moves to help get more players and fans ready for next year.
The Mets have no doubt underachieved so far this season. They have underachieved with their starting pitching, and have fallen well short of their preseason expectations.
However, the season has a lot of games left. There are a ton of things still to happen.
The Mets might have fallen too far out of the playoff picture, but for the rest of the season, they can at least show the fans that maybe, just maybe, the team knows what it’s doing working towards a better future.
