New York Mets: Players to Watch in the Second Half

The Mets slugger probably should have been an All-Star.

Although Bruce is a guy who the Mets could get a good return for at the deadline, the free-agent-to-be has proved he is worthy of a contract extension.

Bruce is a powerful slugger who could potentially finish the season with 40 home runs (he currently has 24 dingers).

He is a decent enough fielder that he is in no way a liability on the defensive side of the ball.

Bruce has been the player for the Mets that is capable of blowing the game wide-open with one swing of the bat.

Don’t expect too much to change with Jay Bruce for at least the next few weeks.
