LANDOVER, MD – JANUARY 01: Running back Paul Perkins /

Number One- Paul Perkins

Paul Perkins is the odds on starter for the New York Giants heading into this season.

He came on strong last year after a ton of backfield struggles for Big Blue last year, and now it’s his job to lose.

The way Perkins runs shows that he is ready to be a feature back in the NFL. He just has to work on his patience, and he is set to become one of the better runners in the league.

The thing that is going to be the difference is how Perkins makes good on his chances.

One of the problems with being a running back in New York is that it is very rare to see touches nowadays. The Giants are a pass first team, and with one of if not the best receiving corps in the league, they rarely let their runners touch it anymore.

Especially out of a traditional I-back set.

That’s tough for any running back, but include a weak offensive line, and it’s just so difficult to be a feature back for the GMen.

That being said, if any guy can do it, it is seemingly Paul Perkins. He runs hard each time he gets the rock, and he always seems to make something out of nothing.

Perkins is the back of the future for the New York Giants, and it will be fun to watch for years to come.
