The New Jersey Devils took Nico Hischier with the number one pick this year. However, since then the Devils haven’t made much of a splash in the offseason.

The New Jersey Devils are continuing to reassure fans everywhere why they are the worst team in hockey.

Last season, it was the same deal after the Taylor Hall move. Devils make a great trade, but then

they do nothing after to back it up.

It is the same deal after drafting Nico Hischier. The kid is going to be something special, but if you can’t make a move to continue building, it will all be for not.

There is definitely time for a move to be made, but there is something that just bothers me about this whole thing.

I want the New Jersey Devils to try and make another splash. Especially after the loss of Mike Cammalleri.

That might be selfish, but I really don’t care. The teams from my youth never had just one superstar. There were multiple pieces that contributed to years of success.

Sure there was Patrick Elias leading the offense, but he also had Scott Gomez, Jeff Friesen, and Brian Gionta. Scott Stevens was the defensive highlight reel, but he had Scott Niedermayer, and Brian Rafalski.

In hockey, not just one player can do it for a whole team. There needs to be great role players that can make a real impact on the ice, and the New Jersey Devils are straying from that.

They don’t have to go out and make an awe-inspiring move. What they have to do is just go bring in a few more pieces to try and work to the time of the Eastern Conference.
