The Yankees have not gotten much production from their first basemen in 2017. If they want to make a playoff run, they may need to make some improvements.

Baseball teams, traditionally, have received a bulk of their offensive production from the corner infield positions.

Chase Headley has been so-so at third base for the Yankees this season, but the same can’t be said across the diamond at first.

Greg Bird, Chris Carter and Tyler Austin have hit a combined ten home runs and 45 hits for the Bronx Bombers this season. That’s utterly horrendous for a team that has seen great production at that position in the past.

With Bird on the 60-day DL with an injured ankle, Austin on the 10-day DL with a strained hamstring, and Carter not being a productive option, the Yankees need to trade for a replacement by the deadline if they want to compete for the AL East and a playoff spot.

Let’s take a look at some of the options they may have when the trade deadline rolls around.
