Of the two, the Cleveland Cavaliers are the more likely team to land Carmelo Anthony. The reason for this is because they have more pieces that they would be able to move.

If the Cavs did trade for Melo here are the players that could be on the move:

  • Iman Shumpert: It has been rumored that the Cavaliers are very close to moving Iman Shumpert to Houston. So if the opportunity presented itself to trade for Carmelo Anthony, there is a chance that Shumpert could be coming back to New York.
  • Kay Felder: Kay Felder is a point guard the Cavs traded for in the 2016 draft. Felder is a born scorer as we saw in his time at Oakland University. With the drafting of Frank Ntilikina and the uncertainty of what he can do, it is possible the Knicks go for a PG in Kay Felder.
  • Kevin Love: There have been a lot of rumors tied to Kevin Love and his future. It does not appear that the Cavaliers are in love with Love and it looks as if they want to move him out of Cleveland.

If Carmelo wants a ring more than anything else, the Cavaliers are his best landing spot.

The reason for this is because of how stacked the Western Conference is now.

If Carmelo were to go to Cleveland, they would be almost guaranteed to go to the NBA Finals for a fourth straight year.
