The New York Yankees put up five runs in a losing effort last night. There’s no excuse why five runs shouldn’t be enough run support.

The New York Yankees somehow managed to lose last night after putting up five runs.

There is just a fundamental problem with that statement. Five runs is more than enough run support to win a professional baseball game.

It’s just the question that’s been plaguing Yankees fans all season… When will the pitching staff fold like a cheap suit?

It’s too early to say now is the time that they’re faltering, but pitching has to hold down a 5-1 lead. That’s just fundamental baseball. Luis Severino had a less than spectacular outing, and Dellin Betances was awful.

For the record, both of those guys deserve a break. They have been holding down the pitching through struggles, and through injuries. One bad outing isn’t the be-all-end-all.

The thing is, if this continues, this is the downhill slope Yankee fans have been worrying about all year. The beginning of the season was great, but now the team has lost eight of their last ten.

The pitching gave up more than five runs in seven of the eight losses.

That is absolutely terrible. It’s very worrisome for fans moving forward, and the Red Sox are surging.

This just adds pressure to Masahiro Tanaka to perform better.

I also think that CC Sabathia coming back from injury will help the pitching staff a ton. He adds a veteran element that’s so important to any team.

The fact of the matter is that the pitching is terrible as of late. It’s not just one guy, it’s the whole staff. The pressure is on, and they have to find a way to turn this season around.
