The trade options we’ve talked about so far won’t cost the Yankees much in terms of top prospects. But why not fill the need at third base internally and not lose anyone from New York’s deep farm system?

If the Yankees are all-in on 2017, the offense isn’t where they need to use their trade chips to improve. Another frontline starting pitcher would provide the biggest boost to this club.

Brian Cashman can save his prospects to trade for a starting pitcher by solving the third base issue internally.

Miguel Andujar is the Yankees’ ninth-best prospect and was called up to Triple-A on Monday following Gleyber Torres’ injury.

While at Double-A Trenton, Andujar hit .312 with seven home runs and 52 RBIs. The 22-year-old was a doubles machine for the Thunder with 23 two-baggers in 67 games.

Andujar is MLB.com‘s seventh-best third base prospect in all of baseball and his recent promotion to Triple-A would indicate that he is not far from the majors.

However, the Yankees won’t rush any of their prospects to the big leagues. They don’t want to hurt their development.

New York will need to see Andujar hit Triple-A pitching before calling him up to the Bronx.

As exciting a prospect as he is, Andujar is not at the top of this list because he may not be ready for the major leagues this season.
