New York Yankees: Who Should Replace Chase Headley Now?
By Sean Dyer
Despite their recent losing streak, the New York Yankees offense has been one of the league’s best.
They currently rank fourth in the league in batting average, first in on-base percentage, third in runs, third in home runs, and third in slugging percentage.
New York’s one through seven hitters have been as good as there are in baseball. However, the bottom of the order, which happens to be their corner infielders, hasn’t produced quite as well.
We will take a look at alternative options for New York at first base in the near future. Right now, we are looking at replacements for third baseman Chase Headley.
Headley started the season off hot but has really struggled since. The former San Diego Padre is hitting just .245 with four home runs and leads the team with 11 errors.
Gleyber Torres’ recent injury means that most Yankee fans’ top choice for third base won’t be seen again until 2018.
However, with the “rebuild” well ahead of schedule, General Manager Brian Cashman may still look to upgrade the hot corner and make a run at a 28th World Series championship.
Here are my top five options to replace Chase Headley at third base for the New York Yankees.
