Number One: Chase Headley

It’s no surprise that the talks of calling up Torres coincide with talks of trading Chase Headley.

Headley is struggling this season, and is starting to find a turnaround. The only thing is, it might be too little too late.

Headley has had pressure on him all season. The surprising success of Torreyes, and the dominance of Torres in Triple-A have almost left Headley’s days as a Yankee numbered.

He is really in a tough crossroads in his career. He is still talented, but that depth chart at third base is starting to get a little crowded.

Headley’s pressure to perform now is at an all-time high. It looked like before Torres got injured that he was pretty much set to be called up. If that happened, Headley would have lost starting time, and been put up for trade.

He has great trade value. The Yanks could get a lot for the switch hitting third baseman. Headley’s days might already be numbered, but performing well now could keep him in pinstripes a little longer.
