Number Two: Ronald Torreyes

Ronald Torreyes is the platoon man/utility player of the future.

Great glove, good contact bat, and a strong presence, Torreyes is going to be a long-time Yankee coming off the bench.

He reminds me a lot of what Miguel Cairo was for a few years with the Yankees, but he is much more talented that Cairo ever was. The injury to Torres could be huge for the future of Torreyes as a Yankee.

Chase Headley is slowly finding his swing, but Torreyes has a chance to take the third base role from him. If that were to happen, in the event of Torres’s eventual call-up, Torreyes won’t have to worry about being sent down.

Torreyes will eventually be a mainstay in the Bronx, but if he struggles and Torres gets called up, he will be sent down quickly.

If he can snag that starting third base role from Headley, he will have to stay put in New York.
