Bryan Mitchell

Mitchell started the 2017 season in the Yankees’ bullpen and has eight career major league starts.

The right-hander struggled in his 11 relief appearances this year and was sent to Triple-A. Since his demotion, Mitchell has joined Scranton-Wilkes-Barre’s starting rotation.

Mitchell has been less than stellar for the RailRiders. He has a 5.09 ERA in six starts and opposing hitters are batting .320 against him.

Mitchell is on the 40-man roster and has major league experience so he could be considered for a starting spot. However, Mitchell has yet to live up to the expectations of his former top pitching prospect status.

He should be considered a long shot to start during Sabathia’s absence.
