With C.C. Sabathia Headed to the DL, Who Will Step Up for the Yankees?
By Sean Dyer
Chance Adams
Adams is the fan favorite to join the Yankees rotation and it’s understandable why.
The right-hander has dominated the minor leagues and that may even be an understatement.
Through three minor league seasons, Adams has a 23-4 record with a 2.08 ERA and 0.93 WHIP.
Adams has spent his 2017 season at both Double and Triple-A. The 2015 fifth round pick is 7-2 with a 1.78 ERA and 0.96 WHIP this season.
So why has this kid not been called up yet?!
The Yankees don’t want to rush any of their prospects and negatively affect their development. This particular prospect, however, does appear ready. Adams is knocking banging on the door of the major leagues.
The issue here is that Adams is not on the Yankees 40-man roster. In order to add Adams to the big league roster, the Yankees would have to put one of the players on their current 40-man on waivers.
Brian Cashman may not want to do that. As amazing as Adams has been, I think Yankee fans will have to wait a bit longer before we see him in pinstripes.
