Chad Green

Green started eight games for the Yankees in 2016. He went 2-4 in those starts and had a 4.73 ERA on the year.

Another one of the pitchers to lose out on a rotation spot this spring, Green landed in the Yankee bullpen. Green has pitched well as a reliever for New York this season.

The righty has turned an increase in velocity into a 2.00 ERA over 18 relief innings.

Green also started this past Sunday against Baltimore when the Yankees pushed Tanaka’s start back. Because of a pitch limit, Green lasted just two innings and gave up two runs.

Green would likely be on another pitch count if he were to make another start soon.

However, if Green were to stick in the rotation for a few starts, he could stretch his arm out and be able to go deeper into games.

Considering he’s already on the major league roster and has the most big league experience, Chad Green might be the most qualified to replace C.C. Sabathia.
