New York Yankees starter CC Sabathia is set to hit the DL. Here’s a look at the top possible replacements while the big man is still out.
C.C. Sabathia left his Tuesday night start against the Angels after just four innings with a Grade 2 hamstring strain.
This will send Sabathia to the 10-day disabled list. The lefty could be out at least four weeks.
The injury could not come at a worse time for C.C. and the Yankees as Sabathia was pitching like an ace.
Over the left-hander’s last six starts, including Tuesday night, he was 5-0 with an ERA of 0.99 and a 35-7 strikeout to walk ratio.
Masahiro Tanaka finally showed signs of improvement in his start Monday night, but the Yankees have a new void in their rotation.
According to Erik Boland, Luis Cessa will get the first crack at replacing Sabathia this weekend.
Cessa hasn’t been anything special thus far in his career though, so the Yankees may need to look beyond the young right-hander.
We haven’t quite gotten to trade season yet, so let’s look at the pitchers within the Yankees organization that could take C.C.’s spot in the starting rotation.
