The 2017 MLB Draft gets underway tonight and although there isn’t as much excitement surrounding it as the NFL and NBA Drafts, MLB teams will be looking for the future stars of their franchises.

The New York Yankees have the 16th overall pick, and they will look to add to a farm system that MLBPipelne.com currently ranks number two in all of baseball.

The New York Yankees’ “rebuild” is ahead of schedule, as they currently sit atop the AL East, with plenty of prospect reinforcements on the way.

Despite a loaded farm system, there’s always room for more talent, so let’s look at five players, in order of MLB.com ranking, who could hear their names called as the Yankees’ 2017 first round pick.

All measurables, rankings, and scouting grades are from MLB.com.

Per MLB.com with regards to scouting grades:

"Players are graded on a 20-80 scale for future tools – 20-30 is well below average, 40 is below average, 50 is average, 60 is above average and 70-80 is well above average."
