New York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Severino is dominating thus far in 2017. Can the once top prospect continue his run through the season?

New York Yankees young gun Luis Severino is hitting all the marks so far this season.

The product of the Dominican Republic is mastering the art of dominance, and it is just fun to watch. Last night he put on another show, going seven innings, giving up one earned run, and adding eight strikeouts on the occasion.

Last season, no one would have expected this from Severino. He was shaky, and didn’t show any signs of consistency.

In fact, most Yankee fans were calling for Severino to get pushed to the bullpen at the start of this season.

I’ll be honest in saying I was one of those fans. He didn’t show the stuff that got him to be the top prospect in the New York Yankees organization.

He was rather underwhelming.

It is like night and day from last season to this season, and he is staying on a great pace. With Tanaka continuing his struggles, if Severino keeps it up, he could be on a one way train to the ace spot.

Young and talented are two words that get thrown around far too easily nowadays. One rookie could have a good day and be called “young and talented”, and never do anything ever again.

Severino is the epitome of young and talented, and he’s here to stay. It is cliché, but it’s true.

The man has a pea shoot that Yankees fans haven’t seen out of a starter in a long time. He paints, he overpowers, he dazzles. He’s the Yankees new Rembrandt.

This continued success is putting Severino into the talks of being a high-caliber starter, and that is no misnomer if you ask me.
