The New York Giants had an abysmal run game last season. They have made moves this year to try and improve it drastically.
New York Giants fans are ready for the ground game to come back this season.
Last year the just were plagued by awful running by now free agent Rashaad Jennings. He lacked the ability to find holes, and in turn, it made it difficult for the Giants to muster up anything on the ground.
Pair the feature back struggling with an injury to his handcuff, Shane Vereen, and it’s a recipe for disaster.
Vereen missed a good majority of last year, and it made the Giants very one-dimensional.
Defenses saw that the Giants rarely got into an I-set, but when they did, the defense could anticipate the run.
The one good thing about Jennings struggles were that they brought an opportunity to Paul Perkins.
Perkins is the future of the New York Giants run game.
He is a speed back with a decent amount of power, and he is paired this season with rookie Wayne Gallman.
Gallman is a championship winner out of Clemson, and is accustomed to running the spread offense Ben MacAdoo likes to run.
The two are young, but they show a lot of promise. They allow the Giants to run two back sets. With a creative offensive mind like MacAdoo, that is destined for success.

The Giants have a lot of promise with this new running set up. They clearly want to continue to throw the ball, but by running successfully, it’ll make the aerial threat more prominent.
The offensive mindset of the New York Giants has to be unbelievably aggressive. They can’t stray from the run game if it doesn’t work right away.
This backfield is going to be a big part of what helps them win a championship.
