The New York Mets have had struggles of late, but this week could be a big turnaround for them. There is a chance for the Amazins to get back to .500.

The New York Mets did what they had to do in Pittsburgh this weekend.  Taking two out of three games from the Bucs, with the help of solid performances from Jacob DeGrom and Matt Harvey.

With more performances like this, and a fairly easy schedule over the next week or so, the Mets have a chance to right the ship and pull themselves back to .500.

The first game in their seven-game homestead at Citi Field begins with a four-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Brewers come in to the series at 27-23 and in first place in the N.L. Central, having just swept the Mets a few weekends ago. Despite their record, the Brewers have struggled offensively over the past few games.

Eric Thames has slowed down after a hot start, hitting just two home runs in his last 94 at-bats, compared to 11 in his first 94 plate appearances.

Ryan Braun was placed on the 10-day disabled list as well, which takes his bat out of the lineup, and makes the Brewers a very beatable team as long as the Mets can get depth from their starting pitching.

The Pittsburgh Pirates come to town for a three-game set to finish off the week, and the Mets have already proven that they can beat them.

Gregory Polanco is hot, having hit two home runs in  his first three games since coming off of the disabled list. However, the offense otherwise has struggled, scoring only eight runs against the Mets over the weekend.

If the starting pitching can keep the bullpen off of the field until at least the seventh inning, the Mets can take at least two out of three from the Bucs. There is potential to take three of four from the Brewers.

This is a crucial seven-game set for the Mets, and one that can get them back in the mix of things. Winning six of seven can get them back to .500. Even if they don’t do that, they can shrink Washington’s lead and give their fanbase something to get excited about.
