The New York Yankees needed a big seventh inning to get by the Astros today. They get a much needed win and will look to split the series tonight on ESPN.

The New York Yankees took a teeter-totter game out of the hands of the Astros today to set up a potential series split tonight on ESPN.

The high scoring affair is exactly what the Yanks need to get back on track this season.

Luis Severino had a rather disappointing start, but the story of the game came in the seventh inning.

The Yankees trailed 6-4 heading into the bottom half of the seventh, but the bats would get going.

With men on second and third with one out, Matt Holliday hit a hard liner up the middle. Shortstop Carlos Correa knocked it down, but Brett Gardner scored on the play.

Just one at-bat later, Starlin Castro waited back on a changeup, and blasted it into the right field corner to tie the game. The Astros decided to no-pitch intentionally walk Aaron Judge to load the bases for Chase Headley.

Headley was due as he was just 1-24 in his last 24 at-bats.

He sat back on a hanging changeup, and delivered a bases-clearing triple to put the Yankees up 9-6.

Chris Carter added a little more insurance before the end of the inning, driving in Headley with a double to left field.

The big seventh inning would seal the deal for New York. They would tally one more run on a homer off of the bat of Brett Gardner, and Adam Warren would earn the win for the Yankees.

The Yankees will honor Derek Jeter tonight before the second game of the double header. The Captain is set to have his number retired in front of a capacity crowd.

The New York Yankees will look to split the series tonight as Masahiro Tanaka gets the start against Charlie Morton.
