Conclusion: Thanks for the Memories Derek

Derek Jeter provided us, the fans, with a career that we will never forget, nor will we take for granted.

For me, Jeter defined my childhood. Watching your hero go out is hard, but watching him go out on top makes it a little easier.

Derek, we can’t help but thank you for everything you did for us. You created a certain aura around Yankee Stadium that encompassed what it meant to be a Yankee.

From your youth, to your last days, we grew up with Derek. We watched a young man grow up into one of the best players in baseball history.

Next: New York Yankees: Thank you for everything, Mr. Jeter

On Sunday, Jeter will have his number etched into Yankees history, along with all of the memories he shared with us over the course of 18 years in pinstripes.

No one deserves this honor more than the Kalamazoo Kid.

Thank you for the memories Derek, and thank you for showing us the true meaning of what it means to be a Yankee.
