Number Three: Jeter’s 3,000th Hit

Everyone knows the call from Michael Kay.

“Derek Jeter! History, with an exclamation point!” It’s one of the most iconic moments in Jeter’s career, and would we expect anything different from him?

It’s a classic Jeter way to make history. He steps in with a 3-2 count, against David Price, and nuts a homerun.

He only had two homers on the season up until that point. Are you kidding me?

There’s only one man in baseball that could hit his 3,000th hit in such an amazing fashion. It was what we had come to expect from Jeter after so many years of hitting prowess.

The only way to describe the feeling is awestruck.

Jeter, as I keep saying, had a flair for the dramatic, and we learned to never expect anything less from the captain. He just knew how to make Yankee Stadium rock, and this was nothing short of a rocking moment.

Seeing the amount of respect Jeter merited from Rays and Yankee players alike showed what he meant to the game while he played.
