1st) Running Back Wayne Gallman; Clemson

The best pick that the Giants made in the 2017 NFL Draft came in the fourth round. They were not only able to fill a need but hit on value as well. Gallman, a Clemson product, will help the team right out of the gate if given the chance.

Gallman will bring a lot to the Giants to like. He was very productive during his time at Clemson. He gets the job done as both a runner out of the backfield or as a receiver. In three years, Gallman ran for 3,349 yards on 676 carries, scoring 34 touchdowns on the ground. He added 473 yards receiving on 65 receptions with two touchdowns.

Gallman could develop in the lead back for the Giants in the future. His versatility will be an asset as he can play in a number of different packages. A problem for the Giants last season was their plays being too vanilla; you knew what they were trying to do based on the personnel on the field. They can add some diversity to their schemes with Gallman, who also has experience playing in the slot.

Gallman runs hard, which the Giants will need. His ability to make quick cuts will be imperative as the Giants lacked a player who could make a defender miss in the backfield to make something out of nothing. Gallman lacks breakaway speed and isn’t the most powerful runner, but he will help the Giants right away.

His running style should help fill a need for the Giants who didn’t have a short-yardage banger last year. While he lacks power according to many scouts, he runs hard and adds yards after contact, something the Giants will be happy to add to their backfield for 2017. He could be the future for the Giants at running back.
