The Giants badly needed to add talent to their offensive line in the 2017 NFL Draft. The Giants had arguably the worst tackle situation in the NFL last season with Ereck Flowers and Bobby Hart. The Giants were finally able to add an offensive lineman with their sixth round pick.

The Giants traded up seven spots to select Bisnowaty with the 200th overall pick in the draft. It cost the Giants their sixth and seventh round picks in the draft and was worth the price. Bisnowaty fills a need as he will add depth to the offensive line right away. His experience playing tackle at Pittsburgh will be helpful even though he projects as a guard in the NFL.

Bisnowaty has some deficiencies that will be difficult to overcome such as his arm length and athleticism. A move to guard could help overcome that, but he also brings other attributes that will help. His toughness is top notch. He is a grinder that will get it done in the running game. He fits the bill of what the Giants were lacking on their offensive line last season.

Bisnowaty will have to compete for a spot on the team. The Giants starting lineup. Right now, looks like it will be Flowers, Justin Pugh, Weston Richburg, John Jerry, and D.J. Fluker or Hart from left to right. Bisnowaty will have a chance to play for a spot, possibly on the right side where the Giants were weakest.

Finding this kind of value in the sixth round was nice. Bisnowaty was graded out as an earlier Day 3 pick, but the Giants were able to snag him in the middle of the sixth round.
