The Mets have been hit hard by the injury bug. They placed Yoenis Cespedes and Noah Syndergaard on the disabled list last week. Travis d’Arnaud joined them this week. Steven Matz, Seth Lugo, David Wright, and Lucas Duda were already on the DL. Despite that, the Mets put together one of their best weeks of the season.

The Mets finally took advantage of their NL East foes this past week. They took two-of-three from both the Braves and Marlins with a rain out in between. They showed a lot of heart in Game One against the Marlins, rallying from a 7-1 deficit to pick up the win.

For a second straight week, the Mets should have felt good about themselves. But, for the second straight week, a Sunday fiasco ruined things. Last week the Mets got smoked 23-5 by the Nationals. This week, they had to deal with a Matt Harvey suspension.

The team reportedly suspended him for three days without pay on Saturday. It impacted their game Sunday, as Adam Wilk was called up from Triple-A and put in a difficult situation given the short notice and travel involved. The Mets were blanked 7-0 in a game that they looked disinterested in, getting one hit.

The Harvey situation is yet another distraction that the Mets do not need. They have enough to deal with on the field with their injury concerns. Now they have to deal with Harvey breaking team rules. The Mets need everyone on board if they want to turn the season around and chase down the Nationals.

This week will be the first time that the Mets play outside the NL East. They will host the reeling San Francisco Giants for three games before traveling to take on the Milwaukee Brewers for three games.
