Where did the New York Mets finish in Week 5 of the NL East Power Rankings?

The New York Mets finally showed some life this week. They were able to finally string together some wins, and move up the NL East standings as a result. The Mets benefitted from facing off against NL East foes once again, as the division as a whole is down thus far.

Through the first week in May, only the Washington Nationals have a winning record at 21-10; every other team is at least two games below .500, including the Mets. But, the Mets were able to climb out of the cellar this week and jump the Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, and Philadelphia Phillies in the standings.

The Nationals are 6.5 games clear of the Mets, and the Braves are bringing up the rear nine games behind. While the Braves, Marlins, and Phillies were expected to struggle this season, seeing the Mets below .500 and battling it out for second place with the other three teams is surprising.

The Nationals are currently holding the largest division lead in the major leagues. The next largest is the Houston Astros in the AL West by 5.5 games. Both the NL East and AL West are the only divisions in baseball right now with only the division leader being above the .500 mark.

There is plenty of baseball to be played as we enter the second week in May. Thus far, the Nationals have received very little resistance from their division rivals. Will the Mets turn a corner even with all their injuries and start their climb up the standings?

Turning the calendar to May seems to have the Mets some. Did it help push them up the NL East Power Rankings for Week 5?
