Number Two: Baltimore Orioles (16-10)

A one spot slip for the Orioles this week as they rank number two in the latest Power Rankings.

I’ll be fair, I haven’t had much faith in the Orioles, but they’ve stuck around the top of the AL East all season long.

It’s all been working in Baltimore, but the New York Yankees have just been a better team. The Orioles are a solid ball club, and they deserve some recognition for it. Mark Trumbo has been one of the best power hitters in the league, and the lineup around him is very strong.

The Orioles pitching has also just been very strong. From top to bottom, they have been some of the best pitchers in the league, and that was very unexpected in such a strong hitting division.

The O’s are going to vie for a top spot each week. That’s just reality at this point. It’s a tough one to accept, but it’s true.

They are more talented than most people thought they were, especially me. I still think the Red Sox are a better team, but they haven’t proven it yet. For now, hats off to the Orioles as they continue to impress in the 2017 season.
