The New York Jets were one of the most active teams in the 2017 NFL Draft. However, what was the riskiest move that they made?
Coming into the 2017 NFL Draft, we thought that the New York Jets might have been an active team, but nobody could have predicted what we saw. The Jets ended up trading back four times in the draft, which set a franchise record.
For a team that is rebuilding, having picks is a good thing for the Jets. However, it might have been overkill for the Jets this year. While the Jets did make their two selections in the first and second rounds, they began to move back in the third.
Coming into the draft, the Jets had two picks in the third round but ended up selecting only ArDarius Stewart. With some talented in the third round, trading out may have been a mistake for the Jets.
Recently, Rich Cimini named the riskiest move of the draft for the Jets. Here’s what he had to say.
"Riskiest move: General manager Mike Maccagnan traded back a franchise-record four times, which resulted in six picks in the fifth and sixth rounds. (He also dealt one pick for a 2018 fifth-rounder.) His new nickname: Mike Baccagnan. The question: Why? This was a deep draft, with a lot of talent in the third and fourth rounds. He traded out of the sweet spot, failing to add a much-needed cornerback until a couple of fliers in the sixth round. — Rich Cimini"
There was a lot of mixed reaction to the Jets making so many trades. This was considered to be a deep draft, which bodes well for the Jets. However, fifth and sixth round picks are not guaranteed to even make the team.

If Maccagnan strikes gold with one of two of these late picks, it will be a home run for the Jets. However, if the Jets end up having their late round picks be unsuccessful, all eyes will be on Maccagnan.
