It was not a good week for the Miami Marlins to end the month of April. With a chance to get into second place in the NL East this week, the Marlins did not play well. In the series against the Phillies to start the week, the Marlins really struggled offensively. In the two losses, the Marlins scored just six runs combined.

The struggles on offensive continued into the weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, as the Marlins scored two runs on Friday night, and then were shutout on Saturday. With a 0-5 week staring them in the face, the Marlins were finally able to get it together on Sunday. In the series finale against the Pirates, the offense came alive and scored 10 runs in the win. Justin Bour really provided the spark for the Marlins, as he was able to total four hits and six RBIs.

Next week, the Marlins will begin and home-and-home series against the Tampa Bay Rays to start the week. Following that, the Marlins will be on the road against the Mets next weekend. Miami is heading into a stretch of 10 straight games without a day off, which can certainly be a challenge for a team.
