It has been an extremely disappointing start to the season for the New York Mets. With hopes of making the playoffs and getting back to the World Series this season, the Mets are currently sitting in last place in the NL East after one month of baseball.

Injuries have been a major issue for the Mets the past few seasons, and that continues to be a storyline this season. This week, Yoenis Cespedes was placed on the disabled list with a hamstring injury. After missing time earlier in the month with the hamstring, Cespedes obviously came back too quickly and will now miss even more time.

In addition to having their best hitter placed on the DL, the Mets might be sending arguably their best pitcher to the DL as well. Noah Syndergaard refused to have an MRI done on his arm after having his start pushed back because of arm fatigue. In his start on Sunday, Syndergaard was forced to leave early after clearly injuring his lat muscle on his right-hand side.

Losing arguably their two best players is certainly a bad thing for the Mets moving forward. In addition to that, they had another losing week against division opponents. For the Mets to bounce back, they need to get healthy.
