The New York Giants have selected defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson. What did fans on Twitter think of the pick?

In the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson from Alabama. After a questionable pick in the first round, the Giants made another in the second round.

While defensive tackle was a position of need after the loss of Johnathan Hankins in free agency, the Giants reached big time on Tomlinson. With Chris Wormley and Larry Ogunobi still on the board, the Giants might have picked the right position, but not the right player.

Tomlinson will be joining a very talented line with Olivier Vernon, Jason Pierre-Paul, and Damon Harrison. The Giants had one of the best defenses in the league last season, and Tomlinson should fit well at defensive tackle. The problem is, there were two better players available at the position.

After some mixed reactions to the first round pick for the Giants, here is what fans on Twitter said about the selection of Tomlinson.

Overall, fans seem pretty excited about the decision to select Tomlinson. One of the things Tomlinson should do from Day 1 is to help the Giants stop the run. With the Dallas Cowboys having a great rushing attack, Tomlinson and Harrison will make it tough on them to run it down the Giants’ throat.

However, unlike Hankins, Tomlinson won’t help the Giants’ pass rush much. With just four sacks at Alabama, the Giants won’t be able to generate much pressure up the middle with Tomlinson and Harrison. Pierre-Paul and Vernon are capable of generating enough pressure off the edge, and they will need to.

In the third round, the Giants will have one more pick. With one offensive and one defensive player taken, it will be interesting to see what direction they go in.
