C+. . WR. Chargers. MIKE WILLIAMS

Talk. About. Shocked. The Chargers taking Mike Williams with the seventh overall pick is nothing short of shocking. The Clemson wideout is one of the most talented receivers in the draft, but the Chargers do not need him.

The offense has Keenan Allen, Dontrelle Inman, and Tyrell Williams. There is no reason for the Chargers to add another receiver to their roster. The pick isn’t a bad pick, but it just is not smart. Williams is going to be a star in this league, but starting so low on a depth chart isn’t a good move.

This is a classic Chargers pick. They’re in desperate need of a defensive presence, and they go out and draft an offensive threat. They should have taken an inside lineman like Jonathan Allen.

His development is going to be key, but the Chargers are already off to a bad start in Los Angeles. He is lucky to be around a quarterback like Philip Rivers. He has the high point ability, and speed of an outside wide receiver, but he isn’t guaranteed a starting spot.

Just a mediocre pick based on team needs, but they came out with a talented wideout.
