A. . DE. Falcons. TAKKARIST MCKINLEY

This pick was traded to the Atlanta Falcons. To acquire the 26th overall pick, the Falcons traded the 31st overall pick in addition to their third and seventh round selections in this year’s draft. With the 26th pick, the Falcons selected UCLA defensive end Takkarist McKinley.

This was an excellent move by the Falcons. Atlanta’s defense has always lacked behind their offense, and this pick will help them change that. McKinley gives the Falcons and defensive minded head coach Dan Quinn another explosive pass rusher to play opposite of Vic Beasley. Getting to the quarterback is a must, especially when your division includes Drew Brees, Jameis Winston, and Cam Newton.

McKinley is as hard working a prospect in this draft. He had to overcome a lot in life to make it this far, so you can be sure that he will bring it every day to ensure that he makes it and sticks.

Along with the addition of Dontari Poe, the Falcons defensive line has seen a major upgrade this offseason.  The Falcons are getting another potential building block for their defense and it didn’t cost them too much.
