New York Giants Receive Low Mark in 2017 NFL Draft First Round Grades
By Nick Ziegler
Arguably the biggest need for the Dolphins coming into the 2017 NFL Draft was at linebacker. They were able to address that need with their first round pick, as the Dolphins selected Florida linebacker Charles Harris.
Harris will help the Dolphins immediately. He will help the Dolphins pass rush, giving them another edge rusher to go along with Cameron Wake. He was very productive at Missouri, racking up 117 tackles, 30.5 for loss, 16 sacks and four forced fumbles in 38 games, 24 of which were starts.
Harris also has the tools to be an excellent run defender. He is already strong in that area, but once he adds some more weight and strength he could become a difference maker there. He has immense upside and could develop into a very good starter for the Dolphins.
The one thing working against Harris is his durability. He had surgery on both labrums, so there will be concern about his long-term outlook. But, the Dolphins have acquired quite a player with the 22nd overall pick that will help them right away and could develop into an even better player down the road.
