New York Giants Receive Low Mark in 2017 NFL Draft First Round Grades
By Nick Ziegler
Due to teams moving up to take quarterbacks early on, there were a lot of talented defensive players that fell in the NFL Draft. For the Arizona Cardinals, they benefitted from seeing Haason Reddick still on the board when they were on the clock.
The Cardinals had a really disappointing season in 2016, as they failed to reach the playoffs. While some might have thought the Cardinals would be a team to select a quarterback with Carson Palmer nearing the end of his career, they instead took Reddick.
With the addition of Reddick, the Cardinals will be getting a talented linebacker that should be able to contribute for them in 2017. Reddick is a player that improved every year in college, and he finished off his career at Temple with a great senior season.
As a senior, Reddick totaled 22.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. Temple used Reddick all over the place on defense, but he will be a linebacker in the NFL at about 240lbs. With the window of opportunity still open for the Cardinals in 2017, adding Reddick helps them in 2017 and also for years to come. Overall, it is a really solid choice by Arizona.
