New York Giants: 6 Players To Target On Day 2 Of The 2017 NFL Draft
Oklahoma Running Back, Samaje Perine
One of the biggest needs remaining for the New York Giants this offseason is finding a running back. The Giants need a big-bodied running back that can pick up the tough yards between the tackles, converting on short yardage situations and at the goal line.
There were reports that LeGarrette Blount and the Giants had mutual interest. Nothing will happen before the draft is over most likely, and if the Giants are in a position to land someone like Perine, a deal with Blount may never come to fruition.
Perine would bring a lot to the Giants backfield they are lacking. He is a powerful runner with above average vision. He will run through defenders and also utilizes a thunderous stiff arm. Perine is also a capable pass-catcher out of the backfield, making him someone who can handle a full workload.
The Giants would not need Perine to carry the workload by himself, as they also have Paul Perkins, Shane Vereen, and Shaun Draughn. Perine would add an extra element to the Giants backfield they are currently lacking and could be had on Day 2.

Perine has experience in a timeshare, as he played alongside Joe Mixon at Oklahoma. He would find himself in a similar situation with the Giants, as Perkins would share early down work with Vereen handling the passing downs.
