New York Giants: 6 Players To Target On Day 2 Of The 2017 NFL Draft
Ohio State Linebacker, Raekwon McMillan
If the Giants are unable to land Zach Cunningham in Round Two, they could find a useful linebacker in Round Three in Raekwon McMillan. McMillan could fill the Giants need on running downs at linebacker.
Last season the Giants had Kelvin Sheppard in that role, and he did not do well. As a whole, the Giants linebackers struggled against the run. That is where McMillan excels, so if he is on the board either time the Giants are on the clock on Day 2 they will have to consider him.
Right now, McMillan looks the part of a two-down thumper. The Giants need a player to fill that role. But, McMillan has improved as a coverage linebacker. His coverage skills are developing, which is a positive. With the other players that the Giants have to play linebacker in passing situations, McMillan should be afforded the chance to grow in that area.
McMillan tested well at the combine and improved every year at Ohio State. He was a captain as a junior and productive in 2016. He brings a lot to the table that the Giants like seeing in their prospects and would fill an immediate need.
