Number Two: New York Yankees (11-7)

The New York Yankees drop to number two has been extremely hard to watch.

They had nine wins after last week’s rankings, and have gone a rather unimpressive 2-3 over the course of the week. The Bombers had to take advantage of an easy stretch of schedule before getting into some divisional heat, and they were a big let down.

Dropping two games against the Pirates was a big reality check for New York. The Pirates are a team that the young Yankees need to beat, especially before two big divisional matchups.

Aaron Judge has been the head-turner of this team, and he continues to lead the Bronx Bomber name into battle. Pitching has been underwhelming the last week, but with the Yankees, pitching will always have its ups and downs.

This week New York begins a stretch of nine straight division games. The first two sets are against the teams that sandwich the Yankees this week in our rankings. First on the menu is a road trip to Boston, then it’s back home for the Bombers as they take on the Orioles and Blue Jays.

This week could create a three-team swing within the division, and would sure shake up our power rankings. If the Yankees can take home a few wins, they could reclaim the top spot come this time next week.
